Ford says it's on a mission to celebrate the people who love Ford. In an effort to share the enthusiasm, Ford has created social badges for your pleasure.
The badges are similar in concept to what you would earn on the location-based social media network, Foursquare. Only Ford's version isn't part of a single social network--rather, they'd like you to use the badges on your own social media on various sites.
There are currently 44 badges ranging from Mustang and Ford Explorer, to I Drive One and Ford Racing. The badges are meant to represent what you are passionate about in a new way.
Badges can be posted to a Facebook profile, Google+ page, Twitter account, blogs, and more. Ford's head of social media, Scott Monty, said that, while Ford isn't ready to discuss what kind of scale it believe the badges will achieve, the badges are merely a soft launch for a larger initiative.
One of the more interesting bits is what happens when you download a badge. If the badge is vehicle-specific, the site will ask if you currently own that vehicle. This gives Ford the ability to receive data about its fans.
You can download your own Ford Social Badges at The Ford Story website.
